TUGUEGARAO, Cagayan — Rey So topped the Young Birds, while Paquito Ngo dominated the Old Birds in the third l eg of the Philippine Homing Pigeon Association (PHA) North Young Birds and Old Birds Series 2013 here last Nov. 3.

So’s PHA-13-1303543 — a blue checkered hen out of Tournier X Van Loon bloodline — took top honors in the Young Birds category with a speed of 1,154.971 meter per minute.

Another So’s entry — a blue bar hen out of P. Veenstra and PHA-13-1301093 — finished second overall with a speed of 1,154.093.

Burlington Loft clinched third place with its PHA-13-1302175 — a checkered hen out of Ulila Line — which made a speed of 1,151.291.

Burlington Loft also grabbed the fourth, fifth and sixth places.

The other top finishers in the Young Birds category are Joseph Yap, seventh; Harry Sy, eighth; Jonathan & Ian, ninth; and Alberto Lim, 10th.

In the Old Birds class, Ngo’s PHA-12-2101124 — a blue bar cock out of Van den Broucke 38 origin — dominated with a speed of 1,156.287 meter per minute.

PHA president Jaime “Jimi” Lim’s PHA-13-3114724 — a blue bar cock out of Janssen-Hoffkens X Crack 52 X Dewit van Bunderin X Flying 52 bloodline — finished second with a speed of 1,151.386 meter per minute.

Jose Torres’ PHA-13-1326739 — a dark checkered cock out of Tiger bloodline — came in third with a speed of 1,150.641 meter per minute.

Also making it in the Top 10 are Emmanuel Go, Alberto Lim, Joseph Yap, Paquito Ngo, Emmanuel Go, Paquito Ngo and Jose Torres.

PHA racing chairman Nelson Chua said a total of 513 birds out of 946 birds from 60 lofts were clocked in the Young Birds class; while 243 birds out of 439 birds from 43 lofts were clocked in the Old Birds section.

After Tuguegarao, the PHA shifts to Laoag, Ilocos Norte, for the fourth leg on Nov. 10; Gattaran for the fifth leg on Nov.17; Burgos for the sixth leg on Nov.24; and Aparri, Cagayan for the seventh and final leg on Dec. 1.
